Question 9: Is ante stealing in stud similar to blind stealing in holdŽem?

A: I mean, in hold'em, when you steal the blinds, you're using position to attack poker players whose cards you can't see, and in a standard poker game (small blind=1/2 big blind), you're risking $40 to win $30. In stud, the plus in stealing is that, usually, your risk-reward ratio is better; that is, completing the bring-in to full bet stands to win an amount larger than you're betting. However, for the same reason, people will (correctly) defend more in stud, in part because of the pot odds, and in part because, unlike hold'em, they don't know for sure that they will be out of position during the entire hand. So like hold'em, it comes down to knowing your opponents' tendencies. In stud, I'm not that interested in straight steals, because I'm going to get called too much. I like to have more of a back-up plan in case the steal doesn't work.
