Question:    Why do some players wear headphones? Is it because they keep from getting bored and playing an inferior hand "just to play" or does it help concentration?

Answer:    Good question, I have been wondering about this enough myself lately to consider getting some, because an awful lot of the best poker players do use them. I have asked them about it, and got different explanations. Some use it so that they can ignore the able chatter of the poker room and focus inwardly. Some just want to block out annoying things opponents say for example, if you have a real blabbermouth at your poker table, his constant chatter can become very annoying and sometimes even put you on tilt. Some listen to music that soothes them, some have music that pumps them up. Different strokes for different folks. Many live poker players bring a variety of CDs with them, so that they can choose something to help pump it up, or cool off.
