Question:    What is "dealing seconds"?

Answer:    It's when in a poker game, the dealer deals not the top card from the deck, but the card just underneath it. A crook can use this in a couple of ways. If he sees that the top card is something he or a confederate can use, he can just deal the second card each time, until he gets to the person he wants to receive the top card. Less likely, but also possible is knowing what the second card is, and, thus, sending that to the desired recipient. Dealing seconds is harder to spot than dealing off the bottom, and this is yet another reason to prefer online poker to home game poker, at least when the stakes get high.
