Question:    What does “card pulling” mean?

Answer:    Some online video poker pros pull their slot card from the reader before hitting the Draw button for a potential big payoff, such as four of a kind. This is known as ‘card pulling’. Depending upon the computer system being used in online video poker, this may reduce the recorded wins, making him look like a loser so that he can get better comps. While this works in many cases, it is clearly a deceptive practice in online video poker. I have heard of comps being denied altogether when a player was recorded on videotape doing this.

Also, some casinos award points on wins (coin out) rather than on action (coin in). In Las Vegas, this includes Barbary Coast, Gold Coast, Orleans, Suncoast, Plaza, Las Vegas Club, Casino Royale, and El Cortez. You will be foregoing points by pulling your card in such a casino.
